Nokia makes a comeback with new James Bond marketing campaign

HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, has announced it is the official phone partner for the 25th James Bond film, No Time To Die. The announcement comes ahead of the release of a new integrated campaign by the Finnish multinational around the launch of its latest smartphone offering.

While a range of Nokia phones is set to appear in No Time To Die, the official campaign will launch globally on Sunday March 8, International Women’s Day with the release of a 90-second video revealing a glimpse of the soon to be announced ‘future-proof’ 5G Nokia smartphone.

The company’s largest ever global marketing campaign, ‘The Only Gadget You’ll Ever Need’ features Lashana Lynch as Agent Nomi, and was inspired by the film and directed by BAFTA Award-winning director Amma Asante (Pulse Films).

The secret devices will be fully unveiled ahead of the release of No Time To Die, which is now set to hit cinemas in November 2020. This, after it was announced that the initial April release date had been pushed back due to Coronavirus (Covid-19) concerns.

“Following the announcement to postpone the movie launch to 12 November, we now have a really exciting year ahead of us in the buildup to this much anticipated release. Few cultural properties place technology at the heart of their appeal quite like No Time To Die. The film’s commitment to innovation, paired with the amazing technology built into each Nokia smartphone, making our devices the only gadget that anyone – even a 00 agent – will ever need, makes this partnership a real force to be reckoned with,” says Juho Sarvikas, HMD Global Chief Product Officer.

The film partnership aims to position Nokia under HMD Global as a global provider of Android smartphones, showcasing its commitment to security, speed and innovation, meeting the demands of the world’s toughest customers – MI6 agents.

“My first phone was actually a Nokia 3210 when I was about ten years old. In retrospect, it was my smartphone of the 90’s. Being able to change the buttons and faces, whilst playing Snake blew my mind! So, after seeing how much Nokia smartphones have evolved over the years from my childhood to now, it’s exciting to play Nomi who helps unveil a new smartphone for this iconic brand,” comments Lynch.

The Nokia 5G smartphone will be unveiled in London on March 19.
