Musical battle to be waged among agencies, dubious talents to be displayed once again

Elvis is back in the building. And since some of the ad folk have apparently been hassling CAANZ since March about what’s going down this year, consider this your first official notice to get practicing, because the finalists for the always hotly contested Battle of the Ad Bands will go on stage at The King’s Arms on 19 August.

Band registrations for the third annual music competition open 10am, Friday 16 July at www.botab.co.nz (where you can also see last year’s winning performance from DraftFCB’s Account Dracula, which snatched victory from TBWA). Registration fee is $250 – worth every cent for a chance at fame and glory (or just get your boss to pay).

There are only 12 spots and registrations close 5pm, Friday 30 July. And if the previous two years are anything to go by, CAANZ chief cheese Rick Osbourne says that, as well as unending adulation, there’ll also be some pretty mint prizes on offer.

Apparently this year CAANZ will be mixing things up a bit. No firm details yet. And, in a cryptic clue, all that can be said now is “new rule”.
