Loyalty New Zealand laughs in recession’s face and opens Auckland office

Loyalty New Zealand (LNZ), the operator of Fly Buys, has opened a new Auckland office and made three new appointments to complete the team and strengthen its nationwide presence.

Chief executive officer Andy Symons says the new Auckland office is a sign of the company’s continued growth, despite last year’s recession.

“Offering Fly Buys helps retailers attract new shoppers, reward loyal ones and market to shoppers in a more cost effective way,” he says. “In this tough retail environment we’re seeing more and more businesses interested in joining the programme. Last year thirteen new companies started issuing Fly Buys Points, and Fly Buys e-stores launched with some of New Zealand’s largest brands on board.”

The new premises, opened last week, will be permanently occupied by four LNZ staff from account management and business development, but will also be a base for Wellington team members working with Auckland-based clients. Wellington will remain as Fly Buys HQ.

As well as a new office, LNZ has bolstered its business development, account management and digital marketing functions with three appointments.

Two new staff, Debs Nash, new participant development manager, and Grant Reid, key account manager – on account, will be based in Auckland. Brook Milbank, who has worked for Bond and Bond, News Ltd, Fairfax Digital and most recently as marketing operations manager for Telecom, joins the 12-strong marketing team in Wellington as digital marketing manager.

Nash has a background in sales management, and acquisition and retention, and has held positions at Southern Cross Healthcare, IBM and the NZ Herald.

“Every day I’m talking to different industries and learning about their businesses. It might be loyalty for a security firm in the morning and then fashion label in the afternoon, or a small business then a corporate giant,” she says. “That makes it fantastic and always interesting.”

Reid has spent five years in account management at NZ Post and has account management experience with banking, financial services and publishing clients.

“It’s much more than mail alone, there’s a full suite of options for clients and they view Fly Buys as an integral partner, which is great,” he says.
Nash and Reid both report to Lance Walker, head of Fly Buys, and Millbank joins the team led by Chris Lamers, head of marketing and product development.
