ECD Angus Hennah leaves Ogilvy

StopPress understands that Ogilvy and Mather’s executive creative director Angus Hennah has left his post at the agency, bringing an end to his two-year stint.

Paul Manning, Ogilvy’s executive director, says that Hennah made the decision to resign and that the team at Ogilvy was disappointed to see him depart.

“He has been fantastic,” says Manning. “It’s sad to see him go, but it’s just one of those things. From my perspective, he always did a great job and I wish him the best.”

Hennah was lured to Ogilvy in 2011 from JWT Sydney, where he served for almost three years as an executive creative director. His arrival at the agency coincided with the departure of Damon O’Leary, who left to start a consultancy.

In his time at the Auckland-based agency, Hennah has added his creative touch to brands across the agency’s portfolio.

“I am really proud of the work I have overseen, particularly the work for Rebel Sport, Holden, WWF and NZ Forest & Bird,” says Hennah. “I will miss the talented people I have worked with, wish Ogilvy all the best and hope they go from strength to strength.”

Hennah says that he has not yet concluded any agreements with a new employer, and that his immediate plans are to take a break before “exploring new and exciting opportunities.”

Hennah told StopPress that his decision to leave Ogilvy was simply attributable to the fact that he wanted a new challenge in 2015.

The departure of the executive creative director comes at a difficult time for Ogilvy, in the sense that the agency recently lost the Auckland Council account to DDB.
