Matching eyeballs to videos: New Zealand Geographic and NHNZ team up to launch online streaming service

New Zealand Geographic and NHNZ (formerly Natural History New Zealand) have formalised a partnership with the launch of a new digital platform and online streaming service. The new site, www.nzgeo.com, contains thousands of stories and 10,000 images from the 25-year archive of New Zealand Geographc magazine alongside 160 hours of natural history and documentary programming from NHNZ. We chat to New Zealand Geographic editor and publisher James Frankham about the strategy behind this move.

Happy Kiwi snappers show their stripes in New Zealand Geographic photographer of the year comp

The winners of the New Zealand Geographic Photographer of the Year competition were named in an awards ceremony at the Auckland Museum last week and Bruce Mercer, a Cambridge-based photographer, took out the coveted photographer of the year award, as well as the photo story category, for images taken after the MV Rena ran aground on Astrolabe Reef in the Bay of Plenty on 5 October last year.
