AUT University has after ten years ended its partnership with Consortium and will from now on work with a number of agencies on a project basis. The institution has appointed Shine to develop its mid-year marketing campaign, but the director of marketing Shelly Gane says that this is not to be understood as the appointment of the agency beyond this project. Auckland Council swears in Goodfolk and Alt Group to complete its triumvirate

Following on from Auckland Council’s appointment of DDB as its lead agency, Goodfolk has been appointed the digital communications agency and Alt Group will be responsible for arts and culture communications. This announcement brings the long-running process to an end, and gives the agencies until the next mandatory RFP process to work with the Council. PLUS: Goodfolk wins Fletcher Building account.

Mercury Energy puts FCB in charge of its media, creative, digital and direct business

Mercury Energy has confirmed via a release that it has selected FCB as its integrated partner across media, creative, digital and direct. In May, when StopPress first reported on the Mercury Energy pitch, it was thought several agencies—including FCB, DDB-owned RAPP, Contagion and Chemistry Interaction—were simply vying for the energy company’s direct business, but this announcement confirms that FCB’s win includes both above- and below-the-line aspects.

Blurred lines: MediaWorks embraces channel agnosticism by merging direct sales teams

About a week after APN opened the door to cross-channel collaboration across its media properties, MediaWorks announced the conflation of its radio and TV direct sales teams.The unified team will be led by Paul Hancox, who has been appointed to the newly created position of commercial director of MediaWorks Radio and TV. Hancox will also work closely with The Radio Bureau and their agency team, ensuring the Radio agency business is well aligned with its TV and interactive counterparts, led by Nicole Jones and Graeme Underwood, respectively. And while initial speculation suggested that this move came as a knee-jerk reaction to the moves made at APN, the MediaWorks TV director of sales and marketing Liz Fraser countered such claims.

BNZ asks Kiwis to see, snap and save—UPDATED

BNZ has announced an update to YouMoney that enables users to add accounts dedicated to specific items via a smartphone. And to spread awareness of the update, the blue bank has also launched a social media competition that asks Kiwis to share pictures of things they want via social media channels.
