A new Australian ad conceptualised by Clemenger BBDO Sydney depicts skateboarders making Visa PayWave purchases while skating in the bowl. During the course of the 60-second TVC, various people (even a guy in a suit) are shown making payments, mid trick, for coffee, pizzas and tacos at an ad-hoc take-away store.
Given that 2011’s Visa PayWave spot by WhybinTBWATequila Sydney made the technology seem dystopian in the sense that it was turning humans into super efficient robots that can’t tolerate a break in their routine, the new ad is certainly a much-needed change in direction.
But, despite the fact that PayWave technology is being presented as a cool alternative to more traditional forms of payment, some Facebook activists and Twitter commenters remain unconvinced that this is the best way forward.
@VisaAU Hi Visa I dislike all “Pay Wave” credit cards and debit cards, I don’t trust and don’t like them, had a bad experience with one!
