Transport for good

Ad industry award nights are, by their very nature, self-congratulatory. But CAANZ has added a charitable element to tonight’s Effie celebrations, with two Vespas featuring designs from Dick Frizzell and Trelise Cooper going up for auction to raise funds for Breast Cancer Cure. So whether you want a more stylish commute, or you feel the need to increase the cool factor in your agency office with a piece of mechanical art, the bids will be for a good cause.

Each bike is valued at $4,900. And there will also be his and hers stand up paddle board packages valued at $2400 created by Brazilian surf brand Art in Surf.

Every dollar raised at the auction will be matched with a dollar by the Health Research Council of New Zealand if the auction raises over $20,000.

And if you miss out on the Vespa but still want to assuage some of your ad industry-related guilt, you could also take a ride in an UberBlack. Uber has partnered with Hyundai to offer punters rides in a 2015 Genesis and, like many other brands, it’s also tapping into the current rugby fever with some carefully chosen promotional words.

“As the boys defend our nation’s title, we want to give all the loyal supporters at home something special and make sure the next generation have what they need to achieve their dreams … Available for all your business needs, date nights and celebratory requirements for the next seven weekends, so you can arrive with confidence and leave in style.”

Ten percent of every trip in UberBlack goes towards KidsCan to help with its mission to give disadvantaged Kiwi kids the opportunity to recognise their dreams.
