The Sun pokes fun at political confusion

British tabloid newspaper The Sun ran an eye-catching campaign during the high-profile British election to encourage people to vote with the tagline “Helping Britain win the election”.

The campaign was created by Grey London and promoted The Sun’s straight-talking political reportage and its free-to-access #SunNation portal.

The idea behind the campaign was that whatever your political allegiances might be, whether you swing to the left or right, The Sun’s coverage would tell it how it is to empower people to vote.

The campaign included some strategically placed outdoor ads. Like a large raised banner reading “Look, a mass of puzzled people running left and right”. The agency also commissioned a fleet of black cabs in London, rebranded to The Sun’s colour which operated as normal taxis leading up to the election. The cabs included flip-up seats stating “Not the only swing seat in the country” and receipts with the message “Dear politicians, no fiddling.”
