IT giant Cisco chose New Zealand as the backdrop for a new TVC showing off the possibility and reality of the internet of things. In the ad Cisco labels the idea the internet of everything: it let us control internet-connected devices to make our home and lives smarter.
In this case that involves having coffee brewed for us, a door opened, a driverless car that can find its own parking space and getting shopping reminders. The ad, in support of Cisco’s Tomorrow Starts Here, uses a circular, nursery rhyme-style narrative to show a family enjoying the benefits of smart objects in and out of the home.
Observant viewers will spot the locations, including Auckland’s waterfront, the environs of the inner city Ironbank Building, a Kiwi supermarket and the Tuakau River bridge.
