No pants, no problem: thousands of commuters go pantless around the world

A New York City-based prank collective Improv Everywhere causes scenes of chaos and joy in public places, and this year its motive was achieved by urging people to ride the subway pantless, which they did, in 60 cities across 25 countries for the annual No Pants Subway Ride.

The ride started in New York in 2002, when seven male participants entered the subway pantless for seven consecutive stops. Each participant pretending not to know the other. At the eighth stop, someone came on selling pants for $1.

This year, to celebrate the 15th annual ride 4,000 people took off their pants in New York.

Around the world people joined in with scenes of modern pantless ladies alongside ultra orthodox men for Jerusalem’s 4th annual No Pants Subway Ride.

In all countries random passengers boarded the subway in the middle of winter, without pants. Participants acted like strangers, with the only unusual thing being their lack of pants.
