Last year, the Mac’s bottles were revamped with new labels supported by a OOH campaign by Shine. The new look was followed by double-digit growth in the last quarter according to Lion.
However in March, Lion - Beer, Spirits and Wine (NZ) posted a 21 percent decline in full-year earnings due to a change in the market with a rise in craft beers and people choosing to drink less.
According to the Moa Group Limited Annual Report 2016, craft beer is growing 18 percent per year and it sees "no sign of this slowing". The report called Mac’s a ‘corporate craft’ as it is a large-scale brewery and is not independently owned.
