Sport England has released the next epic instalment of the ‘This Girl Can’ campaign that celebrates women giving it their all in sports.
The 90-second ‘Phenomenal Women’ video aims to prove just that, by showing the sweat, exhaustion and enjoyment of women getting out there and exercising while a voiceover commentates the action with details about where women get their drive from.
And keeping it inclusive, those giving it their all are of all shapes, sizes, ages and races, with women shown wearing traditional cultural dress and a grandmother tucking her grey hair into a swimming cap before jumping into the pool.
“That’s my mother and my grandmothers and my great-grandmotherss,” the voiceover says at the end.
Prior to the video’s launch late last week, This Girl Can released teasers on its social media to build hype and as a result, it’s already received 49,000 reactions and over 28,000 shares.
The main 90-second video is supported by a series of shorter videos that focus on one woman and her personal motivations for playing a sport and working out.
There’s Stephanie and Anna who share their post-baby workouts, Debbie who opens up about running with a blade for the first time, roller skater Lydia and Vanessa the rugby player.
