A celebrity guide on how not to die on a plane

Celebrities as diverse as Bear Grylls, Dan Carter and Chris Hemsworth have all had their go in capturing the attention of the everyday flyer. Now, British Airways is adding a slew of new A-listers to the growing roster of safety video alumni.

In collaboration with Comic Relief, the clip shows a number of famous British faces auditioning in humorous sketches in front of comedian Asim Chaudhry, as Chabuddy G, for a coveted part in British Airways’ new safety video, while simultaneously demonstrating the safety features and procedures on the aircraft.

In one sketch, foul-mouthed chef Gordon Ramsay is tasked with showing the audience how to stow luggage in the aircraft, but is forced to say some uncharacteristic phrases when it turns out his script was switched with Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley. In another sketch, Steve Coogan demonstrates how to put on a life vest, showing off the contraption’s whistle and light combination for attracting attention, “should you be one of those people who enjoys attracting attention”.

There are also cameo appearances from Sir Ian McKellan, Thandie Newton, Rowan Atkinson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Warwick Davis, Rob Brydon, Jim Broadbent and Gillian Anderson.

The video ends by offering British Airways’ customers to contribute to its charity incentive Flying Start, which supports Comic Relief in their efforts.
