A brainwave symphony

Netflix has taken a rather innovative and interesting route for its latest ad which promotes its show Sense8 by creating an original piece of music using people’s brainwaves.

Netflix got eight fans of the show (which is based around a random group of people with a telepathic connection) and exposed them to stimuli designed to elicit certain emotional, psychological and bio-physiological reactions.

Headband sensors recorded their brainwaves and then raw data was taken and ran through an algorithm which identified certain patterns and translated them into musical notes and rhythms. The eight tracks collected from the individuals were then arranged into a short symphony.

Pretty cool, huh?
