Air New Zealand's latest Hobbit-themed safety video topped YouTube's most-watch list for the month of October. The clip, which was only posted 22 October racked up a total of 11.6 million views over the final nine days of the month.
The Kiwi airline's nearest competitor was Buzzfeed's hilarious 'Dear kitten: regarding the dog' spot, which tallied 7.3 million views.
Given that the top three was completed with Chanel No.5's insane 'The one that I want' spot, the list provided a clear indication that YouTube is an effective platform to use for telling longer brand stories and also that viewers will watch advertising of their own volition if it's interesing enough to catch their attention.
