McDonald’s turns on the gaydar

Youtube Video

This week on Wammo, Pound and Mash, fast food gets political in France; Australian cuckolds up in arms after an Ashley Madison ad gets banned; Hi-Tec ignores the laws of physics and tricks the gullible by inventing a fictional sport; and Google gets a slap in the face with a fish from one of its competitors.

Here’s a McDonald’s ad from France that’s challenging, thought-provoking and clever. And I’m not kidding. “Come as you are” is the tagline and it led Bill O’Reilly of Fox News to ask if Maccas were doing a gay ad. And to wonder if an Al Queda version was next on the agenda.

While we’re on the topic of moral panic, check out this ad from Australia for a website that helps married people have affairs. Although the production values are terrible and it looks like a cheesy joke, it was for Ashley Madison. It played once during ‘Underbelly’ before it was classified as for overnight viewing only.

Hi-Tec decided to show off the water-repellent properties of its shoes by creating a mockumentary about a new extreme sport called ‘Liquid Mountaineering’. The viral video has already had four and a half million views on YouTube, as well as a fair bit of international media coverage. Job well done. And, in case you were wondering, here’s how they did it.

Also funny is this dig at Google’s recent Chrome speed test ads by its competitors from Opera.
