A message from Adgraphix’s Scott Shore

An earthquake influenced five metre print

Everyone from the Adgraphix team in Christchurch made it through the earthquake safely and the large-format printers are once again fully operational. But company director Scott Shore says it’s time for businesses—both in Canterbury and around New Zealand—to stay positive and support each other.

On Tuesday the building shook like never before. We had made a team decision after the September earthquake that everyone was going to exit our single storey building immediately should we get another substantial shake. It did happen and fortunately everyone got out without injury, although the simple process of walking/running was way more difficult than we envisaged. We re-entered and secured the machines to survive with no power. Overnight, parts of the factory and lunch room filled up with water and silt. We’ve had a massive clean up and with power and water back on we are ready to go.

Christchurch is at a time now when businesses need to be positive and do their best to support each other. Mother Nature has changed what we all considered normal. Christchurch now has a new normal and we have to adapt to that. Adgraphix has been fortunate enough to come through this third shake while many have not. Our focus is now to get work through our machines. We have capacity to turn around jobs to short timeframes. The more printing and signage work we can secure down here, the better it is for our customers, our suppliers, us and ultimately our city.

Not only are we appealing to print and signage buyers, we are also here to support other printing companies who have not survived this quake. We have the capacity to support other large format printers in the city so they can keep providing goods to their customers.
