Yahoo! New Zealand’s Digital Stars finalists revealed

Yahoo! New
Zealand’s inaugural Digital Stars Awards
have been on the hunt for the country’s best emerging digital media
talent and, after scrutinising 18 savvy entries, the list has been narrowed
down and the five finalists revealed, representing a decent cross-section of Kiwi
agencies.

The
finalists are: Ashley McClain of OMD; Brendan Hewitt of PHDiQ; Ryan Jordan of
Starcom; Steph Pearson of DraftFCB; and Ogilvy’s Natalie Gallagher. Each
finalist has been working in the New Zealand media agency space for less than
seven years, a criterion of the competition.

Having made
it this far, each finalist must now write an article on a topic provided by
Yahoo! New Zealand. A panel of judges will then review and select two winners,
who will be announced on 24 August this year.

“Digital
Stars is an opportunity for the industry to recognise those up and coming
individuals who are at the leading edge of digital media, and it’s great to see
so many young guns rising to the challenge,” says Yahoo! New Zealand general manager, Laura Maxwell-Hansen.

Up for
grabs for the winners is an all expenses paid trip to Ad:Tech, one of Australia’s
most prestigious marketing and advertising conferences, and the ultimate in
published fame – their articles published on StopPress.

The
competition, an extension of Yahoo! New Zealand’s Digital Strategy Awards, was successfully run in Australia
last year and if you want to see what talent the Aussie’s had to offer, visit
