When inspiration strikes: ANZ and \TBWA’s new TVC

Most good ideas need a bit of money to get them going and ANZ Bank is positioning itself as the money lender to go to when inspiration strikes.

The Australian-owned bank’s latest TVC campaign (via TBWA) shows business people, farmers, startups and home renovators as they are struck by that light bulb idea (accompanied by CGI synapses firing). This is then followed with a slightly less exciting view of the newly-inspired visiting their local ANZ branch.

ANZ head of retail marketing Matthew Pickering says this is an original TVC created specifically for New Zealand. The scene with the young startup team reflects a key new segment the bank is targeting, says Pickering.

According to Pickering, the TVC was produced by Curious Film and directed by Ash Bolland.

It aired last night on TV, on demand services and social networks such as YouTube. ANZ sponsors TVNZ’s On Demand app for iOS, taking emirate spots across the platform.

On ANZ’s Facebook page, the TVC’s comment section has been less about inspiration and more about gripes against the bank’s service.
