What's small, hairy and airborne?

There's danger in being good at something: you create expectations, as evidenced perfectly by this Olympic comparison. Air New Zealand has created some pretty high expectations for its inflight safety videos after releasing a few stunners and most seemed to think they weren't met with the last animated effort. But it's trying again and, in line with Tourism New Zealand's new 100% Pure Middle Earth slogan, it's a tribute to The Hobbit movies.  

As it says on the Flying Social Network

Four Air New Zealand crew members went Middle-earth style on us as they got in character for the making of our new Hobbit Safety video, lots of fun was had by all. The video will be on board from November, check out a sneak peak of some scenes from the film-shoot. Air New Zealand – Official Airline of Middle-earth.

Patience is the key: reverse auction site Dropit soft launches, looks to expand user base

Dropit hopes punters and retailers will say yes to 'no reserve' and sign up to take part in reverse auctions. Last week, Dropit soft-launched its auction website where items have no reserve price. However, this is a good thing for the punter because the longer the auction lasts, the cheaper the item becomes. We chat to the company's chief executive and marketing manager Peter Howell about how this all works.
