Warriors give the nod to Special Group

Special Group has been appointed the new creative agency for the Vodafone Warriors, following a creative pitch that involved four agencies.

The incumbent, Image Centre-owned &Some, was involved in the pitch, but the other two agencies involved are unknown at this stage. Special Group managing director Michael Redwood and &Some chief executive Andrew Nalder both said that they did not know who the other agencies were.

Vodafone Warriors events and entertainment consultant Holly Dean says that “Special’s strategic and creative thinking and their smart use of digital stood out for us. I’m looking forward to creating some standout work for the team”.

The shift of the creative account follows on from the appointment of Jim Doyle, who took over the reins after the resignation of of Wayne Scurrah at the end of last season.

“We have been really impressed  by managing director Jim Doyle’s desire to lift the level of professionalism across every    aspect of the Warriors brand and experience,” said Redwood in a release. “A renewed focus on marketing and branding will hopefully play a strong part in a very successful season.”

Prior to taking on the role at the Warriors, Doyle previously served as the chief executive of the NRL.
