Sure to rise: new survey shows salaries on the up

Key marketing professionals are set to receive a boost to their own bottom lines in 2013, according to the latest global salary survey from specialist recruitment consultancy Robert Walters.

The survey (read the while thing here to see if you need to change sectors) found key account managers are anticipated to enjoy the largest salary increases of up to 20 percent, category managers up to ten percent and market research/insights managers up to nine percent.

“Greater emphasis on market research and targeted communications has led to an increase in demand for category management, CRM and consumer insights professionals,” says Richard Smith, Robert Walters Auckland manager of sales and marketing recruitment. “Increased demand, coupled with talent-based skill shortages for category, insights and account management in the local market should result in salary increases for these professionals in 2013.”

The survey also found more resources will be spent on information technology than ever before. Professionals who can demonstrate specific commercial experience are likely to receive multiple job offers and increases in pay.

Now in its 14th year, the survey is the most comprehensive of its kind. Compiled by the company’s dedicated research team and covering all 24 countries and disciplines in which Robert Walters specialises, the latest edition offers an overview of salaries and recruitment trends from 2012, as well as those expected in 2013.
