Youtube VideoThere are a few tried and true methods of catching the attention of fans of erotic content and they usually involve body parts and vaseline (on the lens). But Sky and DDB have taken a slightly more tasteful, self-deprecating and some might even say intelligent approach to promote its Adult Channel.
Rather than showing scantily clad, well-endowed pornstars looking over their shoulders, licking their lips and moaning seductively, they decided to take the mickey out of some of the classic narrative devices that are often used. As the slogan says rather honestly, "not exactly art house".
There are a few different ads in the series, which were filmed by Finch and won a couple of bronzes at AWARD, and they air at appropriately adult times on the other Sky channels. But check out the remarkably vague description of the channel from the Sky website.
"Adult Channel New Zealand is where we never take ourselves too seriously. Come and join the fun, it’s the ultimate lad’s night out. We’ll make sure you always leave with a smile on your face."
Speaking of adult content, porn is rather fertile territory (teehee) for creatives. So here's some post-work viewing for your delectation, including a few great ads for Canada's Amour channel that bring a sad dose of reality to proceedings, a brilliant piece of sleight of hand for Diesel, a unique call for entries for Saatchi & Saatchi's new director's showcase and a strangely high-brow approach from Germany.
