Watch it wherever, whenever: oOh!media and TVNZ team up to stream Commonwealth Games in malls

oOh!media is live streaming TVNZ’s Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games coverage on its Excite panels in New Zealand shopping centres.

There are 15 panels located in 14 shopping malls allowing sports fans on the go to watch Kiwi athletes in action.

oOh!’s general manager of New Zealand, Adam McGregor, says the TVNZ Commonwealth Games campaign is an excellent use of oOh!’s Excite full motion and interactive digital network.

“The team at oOh! worked closely with TVNZ to ensure a seamless live broadcast feed to 15 Excite panels. The clear benefit offered by Excite was the in-built ability to include sound in the broadcast.”

He says it chose to make use of the audio capabilities to generate atmosphere and engagement for people in high dwell-time environments.

TVNZ’s partnership with an outdoor media company fits its ambition to deliver extensive live and free to air coverage of a major sporting event in New Zealand history.

Marketing director of TVNZ Jonathan Symons says it plans to showcase every medal moment to Kiwis, whether they are watching on the couch or out and about.

Starcom Mediavest Group worked to bring TVNZ the media strategy that mirrors the way they distribute content and media planner/buyerSebastian van  Dyk says it fits consumers' needs to watch whenever and however they might choose, no matter what the device or the context.

“oOh!’s innovative technology has allowed us to add yet another touchpoint with the TVNZ viewer,” he added.

The 14 shopping centres live streaming TVNZ’s Commonwealth Games across oOh!’s interactive Excite panels include: Sylvia Park, Botany Town Centre, Northwest, Centre Place, Glenfield, Johnsonville, Lynnmall, North City, Northlands, The Palms, Plaza Palmerston North, Queensgate, Te Awa and Westcity.

Crusaders do not have WiFi capability: Daikin explores the differences between a heat pump and rugby players

What’s the difference between a heat pump and a Crusader? Not much if the Daikin's new campaign is anything to go by but that doesn't stop the heat pump brand from searching for a connection to promote its sponsorship of the team.

Recreating the Christchurch Cathedral: Realityvirtual is calling all videographers and photographers to help bring the landmark back in VR

Realityvirtual’s Simon Che de Boer recently had a hand in documenting one of the world’s most ancient civilisations in VR. And now, he’s keen to get to work on his passion project: local cultural preservation work of the Christchurch Cathedral. He wants to resurrect the old Cathedral in VR using publicly sourced photography, so is putting out a call to the public to submit any photos or videos they have of the building pre-earthquake, and using deep learning, a company can fill in the missing data and build a VR experience around this.
