OMD wins SkyCity jackpot

OMD has won the SkyCity media account following a competitive pitch, with work commencing immediately.

The SkyCity account includes the SkyCity and Grand Hotels, SkyCity Convention Centre, SkyCity Theatre, Sky Tower, Federal Street, SkyCity Casino and the Let’s Play Live E Sports studio. SkyCity has also recently announced it will be the home of the All Blacks Experience, an interactive visitor attraction.

SkyCity general manager marketing Jon Spittle says the company felt it was the right time to bring an integrated and global approach to its media strategy.

“Digital has a huge role to play in our media landscape, but we wanted to ensure we didn’t forget the value that traditional channels continue to offer both here and overseas. OMD impressed us with their vision, their expertise and their pragmatism.

“We are really looking forward to this partnership as SkyCity moves into another exciting phase of growth.”

OMD chief executive Nigel Douglas says the agency is thrilled to be working with one of New Zealand’s largest entities.

“The account perfectly complements our portfolio with Auckland-centric clients, such as Heart of the City, Auckland Council, and Auckland Transport. Everyone is jumping at the chance to work on New Zealand’s premier entertainment complex.”
