OMD hogs Media Awards spotlight as finalists announced

The Axis festivities have wound up for another year and Justin Mowday has finally got out of That Guy's tub. Now it's time for the CAANZ Media Awards to kick into gear and OMD has got off to a flyer.

OMD, conspicuously absent from the podium last year, leads the pack with a hefty 40 finalist placings across a wide range of its clients, while DraftFCB Media will be aiming to follow up its fairly impressive showing last year with some metal from its 22 finalist nods. SparkPHD, last year's agency of the year, is third with 11.

A new identity: The rebranding of Invercargill

Invercargill is well known for its wide 'Parisian' boulevards, infamous mayor, the world’s Southern-most McDonalds (we think), an abundance of oysters and cheese rolls, as well as the highest incidence of R-rolling in the country. However, the city hasn't ever established a lasting brand identity, and locals decided the time had come to figure out what the town stood for. Designer Tim Christie talks us through the Invercargill brand’s new “stoic” look and feel.
