OMD adds Meridian to its ledger

OMD has won the Meridian Energy media account, which will now extend to include all media strategy, planning and buying.

OMD will be working with the creative agency Barnes, Catmur & Friends Denstu in bringing to life Meridian’s positioning ‘Powering today. Protecting tomorrow’.

Dentsu Aegis Network New Zealand chief executive Rob Harvey confirmed to StopPress that BC&F Dentsu was the incumbent, with Meridian media a BC&F Dentsu media client as part of a full-service relationship.

Melanie Lynn, head of Marketing at Meridian Energy, says the company is thrilled to be working with the wider OMD team.

“The specialist divisions of OMD over the past few years have provided a real passion and understanding for our business and have great skill and expertise in delivering powerful results. We are excited to now be working with OMD across the full media spectrum.”

Chief executive of OMD Nigel Douglas says he is chuffed to have won the Meridian account. 

“This illustrates how much Meridian value their existing partners and it also showcases the depth and breadth of digital and data skill at OMD and the impact it can have on clients’ businesses. We have achieved significant success with the Meridian team in the search, programmatic and marketing science arenas and look forward to helping Meridian achieve its brand ambitions,” he says.
