NZME looks at the Election campaign through children’s eyes

NZME has rolled out an election campaign with the help of a few children asking tough questions.

In the hopes of encouraging voters to make an informed decision ahead of the election, the campaign raises poignant issues on the political agenda including housing, child poverty, conservation and immigration from a child’s perspective.

Questions including ‘Mum, why’s that man sleeping on the footpath?’ and ‘Dad, why can’t we afford a house?’ are among the questions asked across NZME’s print, radio, digital, outdoor and video channels.

The campaign marks the launch of the NZ Herald and Newstalk ZB’s election coverage and NZME managing editor Shayne Currie says voters can expect the very best political coverage and analysis.

“We’re already well immersed in one of the most intriguing and absorbing political periods, with no fewer than three political leaders stepping down in the past month,” Currie says.

“The outcome of the election will obviously shape the future of the country – our deep, insightful journalism and broadcasting will help New Zealanders make an informed decision.”
