No more man tears: DDB and Lindauer present the man-sitter

Di

The second instalment of Lindauer’s “national girls’ night out” took place on 15 November at various nightspots across the country. And to ensure that the blokes didn’t feel too abandoned on this night of feminine revelry, Lindauer and DDB arranged a few celebrity man-sitters to entertain the sullen couch dwellers at home.

The man-sitter campaign follows on from last year’s Lindauer TVC that depicted a range of Kiwi guys bawling on account of their solitude during the girls’ night out.

Since advertising is principally about problem solving, the folk at DDB came up with the perfect answer to those teary man-eyes: the man-sitter.

To win the services of a man-sitter, interested Kiwis were required to enter from 29 October on Lindauer’s Facebook page. By the time entries closed, 1,561 people had entered the competition, leaving Lindauer with the task of whittling it down to four winners.

Che Fu (R ‘n B singer), Mike and Dom (The Edge Breakfast), Mark Richardson (The Block NZ and Crowd Goes Wild) and Matt Watson (The ITM Fishing Show) all offered their man-sitting services on the night, and they gave the winners a great night of in-house fun.

To promote the celebrities’ services, DDB created a collection of humorous posters that depicted how adept the celebrities were at caring for full-grown men. The posters, which included bubble baths, bedtime stories and an adult in a baby carrier, served as a great foil to the graphic images of male crying that pervaded last year’s campaign.

Although the campaign focused on the guys, the partners of the winners were also rewarded with a professional make-up application and a VIP night on the town with Lindauer.
