New strategy for Film New Zealand

Film NZ
Film New Zealand now takes care of its own marketing and promotions. Previously it was the job of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise’s Investment New Zealand.

Minister of Economic Development, Gerry Brownlee, says “the new direction Film New Zealand has decided to take allows it to work with the broader screen production industry so companies in the content, digital, animation and special effects areas benefit from its marketing and promotional work.”

Julian Grimmond, Chair of the Film New Zealand Board of Trustees, is optimistic about generating more business for our film industry. “Film New Zealand will continue to collaborate closely with its stakeholder the New Zealand Film Commission to improve efficiency and maximise impact at specific overseas markets.”

New Zealand’s screen production business generated $542 million in export revenue in 2008 (88 percent of that sourced from the US), an increase of 79 percent from the previous year.
