Group head of revenue Paul Hancox bids farewell to MediaWorks—UPDATED

After a series of departures of on-screen personalities last month, the MediaWorks backroom is getting a shake up with group head of revenue Paul Hancox announcing his departure.

In a statement issued this afternoon, MediaWorks says Hancox has left to take up a new unnamed opportunity.

*The statement went on to describe Hancox as “a highly valued member” of the MediaWorks team since 2007, and has worked across a range of senior sales roles in both our radio and TV arms.

His departure comes just under a year after undertaking the role. His previous roles have included commercial director, and director of sales and branded content for radio.

Glen Kyne, Chief Commercial Officer says Hancox will “be greatly missed”.

“He has played a big part in developing the amazing environment and team we have – he’s the kind of person that makes any workplace a great place.”

“We’re very sad to see him go, but wish him all the best with his new opportunity.”

A replacement for his role will be announced at a later date. In the interim, Donna Gurney will be taking on the role of acting head of agency sales.

Hancox’s departure comes in the wake of a busy month of November for the company, including Paul Henry’s departure from The Paul Henry Show, Heather du Plessis Allan’s shock forcing out, and the axing of TV3’s 7pm current affairs show Story.

*UPDATE: StopPress has received confirmation that Hancox is joining NZME as the head of business partnerships and customer acquisition.
