McDonald’s, Fuse and OMD create geofilter Snapchats

McDonald’s, Fuse and OMD have created branded Snapchat chain geofilter filters that are available when inside any of the McDonald’s standalone restaurants around New Zealand.

Incase you didn’t buy your own Big Mac, the first filter allows the user to hold a virtual version of the burger alongside the brand’s slogan ‘i’m lovin it’. It ties into the Big Mac’s 50th birthday which is being celebrated around the world this year.

Simon Kenny, head of communications at McDonald’s, says after seeing the success of its Snapchat activity throughout 2017 the company wanted to be the innovators in this evolving social space.

“The chain filters enable our consumers to have an interactive brand experience while in restaurant.”

The chain filters are available within McDonald’s New Zealand restaurants for a year and will be changed out regularly to complement brand and campaign activity.

Last year part of the release of McDonald’s Spicy Shaker fries, the company created a custom Snapchat Geofilter and 10-second Snap Ads via its social media agency Fuse. It also celebrated the return of its Monopoly Game with a themed filter.
