Mantelpieces dusted as award deadlines loom

Already sick of making new work? Then enter some old work for an award instead.

Entries for the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival opened today, with a few new sections in the line-up, most notably the Craft Lions across all the major categories (film, cyber, press, radio and design). Two new awards, Independent Agency of the Year and a Grand Prix for Good, which is for charitable work, will be judged this year.

The deadline for Film, Press, Outdoor, Film Craft is 5 March; Direct, Media, Radio, Promo & Activation, Design, and PR is 12 March and deadline for the Cyber, Titanium, and Integrated categories is 19 March.

In other calendrically-oriented awards news, entries close 31 January for Adfest; 8 March for the CAANZ Media Awards; 15 February for the 2010 Fairfax AdMedia Agency of the Year Awards; and 12 February for the One Show.

Rogue Society and Motion Sickness explain name change to Scapegrace

A new campaign by Rogue Society Gin, via Motion Sickness, declares they have ‘made a name for themselves’ and the New Zealand company doesn’t just mean figuratively. After an international scuffle with an American brewing company that had a beer called 'Rogue', the company has rebranded to be Scapegrace Dry Gin to better promote its product overseas.
