Griffin’s and Tip Top team up again to make more bikkie-ice cream hybrids of Kiwi favourites

Griffin’s biscuit bakers have once again joined forces with Tip Top, to surprise bikkie lovers with two new mash ups: Goody Goody Gumdrops Squiggles and Choc Bar MallowPuffs.

To promote the mashups, Assignment Group created the #doubledoubleyumyum campaign which had over 1.5 thousand likes, loves and surprised reactions on Facebook in the first 24 hours.

Griffin’s innovation director Tracey Seager said in a release the bikkie brand had been coming up with new and exciting ways to delight the palates of New Zealanders for more than 150 years and these latest offerings continued to raise the bar.

“We had so much fun working with Tip Top to see what other fun flavour combinations we could create and encourage bikkie – and ice cream – lovers to get in quick to try these limited edition treats before they are all gone.”

According to the release, the new Squiggle “celebrates everything that is great about the quintessential Kiwi favourite, Goody Goody Gum Drops ice cream, but in a bikkie format”. It has a Squiggles biscuit base topped with bubble gum flavoured crème and gumdrops topped with milk chocolate and green chocolate squiggles.

The Choc Bar MallowPuff is described as the “chocolate lover’s dream”, with a solid chocolate centre added to the signature MallowPuff shortcake biscuit. The mallow has a shot of vanilla through it as well as being sprinkled with toasted coconut and rolled in milk chocolate to pay homage to the Choc Bar.

Both flavours will be in store on 11 April.

To build anticipation prior to the announcement, a video was created encouraging Kiwis to guess what the biscuit and ice cream combinations could be on Facebook.

The latest editions to the Griffin’s bikkie range come after last year’s limited edition Jelly Tip bikkies, which were gobbled up in a matter of weeks according to the release.

The Jelly Tip hybrid was the first time Griffin’s and Tip Tip came together, amongst a growing trend of food mashups in New Zealand.

Tip Top has also shared the love with Whittaker’s to create a Hundreds and Thousands bar in 2014 and a Jelly Tip block last year. While Whittaker’s also tried out an L&P chocolate in 2013 and caused a frenzy with its partnership with Lewis Road Creamery to make a chocolate milk in 2014.
