Industry huddles to hatch TVNZ response

A huddle of industry bodies met yesterday to discuss TVNZ’s provocative ‘review’ of its advertising commission structure.

Representatives from the Marketing Association, CAANZ and ANZA gathered together in Auckland to form a coordinated response to TVNZ.

While no TVNZ documents were tabled, StopPress understands CAANZ president David Walden relayed what TVNZ chief executive Rick Ellis had told him earlier this week.

According to our mole in the bowels of somewhere near them all TVNZ has concluded its review and is ready to announce its actions to the industry.

StopPress attempted to extract responses from TVNZ, Walden and the Marketing Association but none were overly forthcoming.

Sue McCarthy, chief executive of the Marketing Association, confirmed she had attended the meeting and that an industry-wide response is imminent.

“You’ll get something soon,” she says.

How annoying.

The Marketing Association’s sub-group, the Marketing Agencies Council, is polling views from members through its website.

We’ll keep you posted.

Meanwhile, here’s a picture of a funny looking cat.
