Igloo boss quits for Australia

Igloo boss Chaz Savage has resigned from the fledgling pay-TV venture, and is taking up a role with Telstra in Australia, according to a spokesperson for Igloo.

Savage, who has been the general manager at Igloo since its inception 18 months ago, will report as the general manager of T-Box, Telstra’s set-top box product across the Tasman.

Igloo was announced by Sky TV and TVNZ in 2011 as a low cost, cut down alternative to Sky’s paid services. The broadcaster launched last December after months of delays, which Savage says was the result of being too aggressive with timings around the “very big undertaking”.

Savage says the timing for his departure is less than ideal, as he still has much he wanted to achieve at Igloo’s helm.

“Igloo has been my passion for the past 18 months and although I leave with much I still wanted to achieve, the team I have built around me are more than capable of ensuring Igloo charms its way into many Kiwi homes over the years to come,” says Savage.

A spokesperson for Igloo says Savage’s last day is yet to be finalised, and the company is in discussions to sort out the details of his departure. Igloo is currently looking for someone to replace Savage as general manager.
