FCB, OMD, SparkPHD and Mediacom strong performers in this year's Beacons

FCB Media, OMD, SparkPHD and Mediacom were notable performers among the finalists in this year's CAANZ Beacon awards, with FCB securing 26 finalist placings, OMD 14 (either in conjunction with other entrants or solely), and SparkPHD and Mediacom with 10 each.

The media industry awards were given a new name and brand late last year by DraftFCB. Among FCB's placings were social and public service marketing for Maritime New Zealand, the People's Stories campaign for Noel Leeming Group and Message in a Bottle for Sony New Zealand.

OMD was recognised for V Robbers, work for New Zealand Cricket and Tourism Australia and Blazed Drug Driving for NZTA, in partnership with Clemenger BBDO, and more.

SparkPHD gained placings for Sanitarium Health Foods' Weetbix Collector Cards, Heineken open Play for DB and the Evolution of Dirt is Good for Unilever brand Persil.

Mediaworks, TVNZ and iSite Media are in the running for the Media Brand of the Year.

The awards will be presented at a gala dinner on 1 May.
