EightyOne adds LifeDirect and David Reid Homes to its accounts list

Wellington agency EightyOne rounded off 2016 with two account wins; LifeDirect by Trade Me and David Reid Homes.

There was no competitive pitching involved for either account, and partner and business director Matt West is unaware of any other agencies involved.

LifeDirect by Trade Me is responsible for bringing the familiar sloth character to our screens.

Speaking of the appointment, marketing manager for Trade Me Insurance and LifeDirect Fran Bellingham says: “We have partnered with EightyOne on LifeDirect because they have a proven ability and in-house specialists to bring their great concepts to life, to drive results for us. I consider them as part of our team because they sweat over our work as much as we do, to make great stuff happen … and quick. I’m excited to see where they take our business from here.”

Trade Me’s new look Kevin the Kiwi, which made its debut last year, is also the work of EightyOne and Assignment Group.

StopPress understands David Reid Homes has had no formal relationships in the past and has used various agencies for its work over the past few years.

West credits EightyOne’s team of 14 people for the wins because they get to solutions fast. He also says data is a critical element of its work, and it’s a shareholder of Dot Loves Data—which builds data products—and Kernl, which creates digital platforms.

The two agencies have been added to a client list that includes Kiwibank, Trade Me Insurance, Nike Teamwear for Australia and NZ and a bunch of Wellington start-ups, including its own Sacred Spring Gin.
