Ecoya aims for the heart with Christmas cuteness

Barbara Miller, a spokeswoman for the US National Candle Association, told The New York Times last year that 35 percent of the $2 billion of annual candle sales happen in last three months of the year. And, in an effort to get more of its candles in stockings this year, Ecoya has released a beautiful festive film that celebrates the joy of giving and getting.

Created by Switch and shot by Sprout, the clip for Ecoya’s Christmas Collection shows a little girl (Caitlin Cascalheira) venturing into the woods to collect a present for her mum. And if its Facebook page is any guide, she might be in the running for the title of New Zealand’s cutest child.

As the blurb says: “The most memorable gifts are often beautifully simple – like a present from a child. They have that magical ability to pick everyday, sometimes rare, often overlooked objects and deliver them to you wrapped in love, delicately tied with a smile and glint in the eye. And that’s exactly how we feel when our candles are gifted. Pondering, carefully selecting that perfect fragrance and every layer of its bouquet. The warm glow of anticipation, a heartfelt exchange and the ceremonial lighting of the wick thereafter. Moments like these don’t just pass by, they linger. Staying with us for as long as we can remember them.”

As well as promoting the video through Facebook, Ecoya is running a takeover on nzherald.co.nz today.
