Dominic Quin appointed Foodstuffs group general manager of marketing and customer experience

Dominic (Dom) Quin is joining the Foodstuffs New Zealand team as group general manager of marketing and customer experience, replacing Steve Bayliss who is leaving after seven years with the company.

Steve Anderson, managing director of Foodstuffs NZ says, there was a lot of interest in the role from talented people in New Zealand and around the world and Quin stood out due to his familiarity with the co-operative model, having worked in owner-operator businesses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

“We are excited to have him pick up the reins from Steve Bayliss, who after seven years at the helm leaves New World, PAK’nSAVE and Four Square in fantastic shape.”

Quin has more than 25 years’ international business experience and has held a number of senior leadership roles at Fonterra, including head of digital transformation, director of global marketing services, director of marketing and innovation at Fonterra Brands, and general manager of marketing and innovation (Tip Top).

Before Fonterra, he held a number of senior marketing roles in Australia, including the head of marketing for Yum! Brands, the master KFC franchisor.

Quin’s excited to work for a 100 percent New Zealand owned and operated business.

“I am looking forward to working closely with owner-operators, employees and the broader Foodstuffs team to bring superior customer experiences to life that will continue to make our stores and our brands the most desired in the country.”

Steve Bayliss will finish in late June 2018 after a handover.

Anderson says Bayliss’ passion for its customers has led it to extraordinary growth in revenue and market share, and he leaves big shoes to fill.

His departure follows that of Jules Lloyd last year, who left to take up a senior marketing role with Mitre 10.

Under Bayliss’ watch, Foodstuffs has been awarded Direct Marketing Organisation of the Year at the 2016 New Zealand Direct Marketing Awards. Recent campaigns include New World’s ‘Little Garden’ and ‘Epic Easter-Hunt’.

Bayliss’ previous roles include six years as general manager of marketing at Air New Zealand, as well as manager of innovation and category development at The Coca-Cola Company and vice president of marketing and president of new business ventures at Suntory Water Group. It’s not clear where he is going after finishing with Foodstuffs.
