From NZ Life & Leisure'sInsider's Guides to NZ Rugby World'sFirst XV, magazine publishers are creating more one-shots and brand extensions than they perhaps needed to in the past. And following on from the success of the 2011 special issue Everyday Dish, which has sold "heaps", according to Tangible publisher John Baker,the Dish team has sifted a few more ingredients and moulded it into Baking Dish. 

Capitalising on the massive interest in baking at present, Baking Dish will be a dedicated publication featuring Dish baking recipes and guidance and tips to help ensure they work every time, from pitfalls to avoid to the best shaped rolling pin to buy to sure-fire Lemon Tarts or Baby Chocolate and Coconut Cakes. 

Baking Dish goes on sale on September 10. And for all you baking fiends out there, you can get a discounted copy for just $12 here.

Green Ideas and FishHead call it a day; Fairfax sheds another title

Despite great circulation growth and increasing subscriber numbers Healthy Life Media’s Green Ideas magazine has had to cease production this year. And this isn’t the only magazine to do so in recent times. Quintessential Wellington publication FishHead also called it a day, and this news comes as Fairfax sells on another one of its own magazines. We chat to Healthy Life Media publisher Pip Mehrtens about the end of Green Ideas and what it takes to succeed in the magazine industry when audiences are becoming increasingly fragmented, and opting for digital over print.
