The One Club’s Creative Week in New York has come to an end, and the world’s best creative advertising ideas have been acknowledged. But it was fairly slim pickings for the Kiwi contenders, with Colenso BBDO winning a rare Gold Pencil for the Levi’s ‘Rear View Girls’ web film at One Show Interactive and Publicis Mojo taking a Silver Pencil for the Greenpeace ‘Oil on Canvas’ campaign in the integrated branding – public service campaign category at The One Show.

There were 3,074 entries from 52 countries in the One Show Interactive, and 91 Pencil winners from 17 different countries were announced. Best of Show honours went to two projects for the first time in the competition’s history: DDB Paris’ ‘A New Warrior’ for Greenpeace and 72andSunny’s hilarious ‘MFCEO’ for  K-Swiss’, which stars Eastbound and Down’s lead character Kenny Powers

Other Gold Pencil winners in the Interactive category included BBDO Toronto’s ‘Touch the Rainbow’ for Wrigley Canada, TBWAChiatDay’s ‘Celebrate the Era’ for Pacific Standard Time and SapientNitro’s ‘Sneakerpedia’ for Foot Locker Europe.

As for the One Show, a total of 115 Gold, Silver and Bronze Pencils were awarded, representing 26 different countries, with Mother New York taking top honours for its ‘Little Marina’ campaign created for Target.

“Not only did fashionista and blogger ‘Little Marina’ play a key role in the conversation during New York Fashion Week, she became the talk of the town,” says Kevin Swanepoel, president at The One Club.

K-Swiss was named Client of the Year for its integrated MFCEO campaign. And other Gold Pencil winners included David and Goliath’s ‘Drive the Dream’ for Kia Motors, Old Spice ‘Smell is Power’ by Wieden+Kennedy in Portland, Canal+ ‘The Bear’ by BETC Euro RSCG in Paris and ‘Dip Desperado for Doritos by AMV BBDO in London.

Elsewhere in awards land, DDB recently won a silver at NY Festival for MySky’s ’60 things in 60 Seconds’ in the commercials category. And earlier this month, Alt Group was the only Kiwi agency to take home a medal at the Clio Awards, winning a silver for Fisher & Paykel’s Social Kitchen.
