Clemenger picks up New Zealand’s only gold at One Show

On 9 May, about three weeks after the finalists were first announced, the One Show awards were handed out, and the results were somewhat underwhelming for the Kiwi agencies originally shortlisted.

Of the 18 awards that the Kiwi contingent could’ve won, only four resulted in silverware, with Clemenger BBDO, Colenso BBDO/Proximity and Shine picking up gongs.

Clemenger was the strongest Kiwi performer at the event in New York and picked up a gold in the advertising category for the ‘Mistakes’ campaign, which was executed for the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) at the beginning of the year. Clemenger’s other award, a bronze (also in the advertising category), came for the already well-awarded ‘Blazed’ campaign.

New Zealand’s other silver was awarded to Shine in the intellectual property category for its creation of the Beck’s Edison bottle for Lion. Interestingly, the innovative relationship between Beck’s and Shine recently also spawned playable posters as part of a promotional push for the New Zealand Music month.

The final Kiwi award was a silver in the interactive category, which went to Colenso BBDO for the ‘Trial by Timeline’ campaign for Amnesty International.
