A case of bubbles: JWT pushes the golden envelope for Viva’s 15th birthday

The New Zealand Herald’s Viva magazine turned 15 recently, and, as part of the celebrations, APN offered agencies an opportunity to submit a creative concept for a chance to win a spot on the front cover and inside front cover of the birthday issue. And JWT’s idea for Pernod Ricard’s G.H. Mumm champagne brand took the top prize, with the birthday edition of the magazine coming enclosed in golden bubble wrap and the phrase ‘enjoy the bubbles’.

Alyssa Easthaugh, APN’s trade communications manager, says it was looking for a birthday message that communicated everything the Viva brand—”New Zealand’s most influential and weekly read fashion and lifestyle magazine”— stood for. And she says the team was overwhelmed with the exceptionally high standard of entries received in response to the brief.

As well as the exposure, JWT will also be getting itself an office shout.

Near 200 entries had been whittled down to 100 finalists before the best of the best were invited to the stage to bask in bronze, silver and gold. Here's the low down of who won what.
