Beauty pageant set to kick off as clients search for some agency love

As we all know, it’s been a tough few years at the marcomms coalface. But StopPress is here to help. So if you’re gagging for a bit more business in 2011, then there are a couple of clients currently looking to be wowed, with New Zealand Post Group and the Royal New Zealand Ballet (RNZB) both calling for Expressions of Interest.

New Zealand Post, which us currently with Saatchi & Saatchi for above-the-line and AIM Proximity for below-the-line (as incumbents, they are automatically included in the pitch), is looking for organisations interested in supplying advertising and direct communications services in 2011 (its contract with Sero Event Management is also thought to be up for grabs).

The document, with contact details, should be available on the Government Electronic Tenders Service later today.

As for the RNZB, marketing and development manager Penn Travella says the troupe has decided to move on from Len Cheeseman and the gang at Ornament in Wellington and “are now seeking a shiny new agency to work with us on our quest to take on the world—which in 2011 involves performing in locations as far flung as Kerikeri and Cardiff.”

With images like those below from Ornament’s campaign for the tour of From Here to There, which was the subject of a recent series on TV3, The Secret Lives of Dancers, the decision to go their separate ways certainly doesn’t seem to be based on crap work. The only explanation must be that it saw the very cool New Zealand Symphony Orchestra campaign created by The Church and got a wee bit jealous.

Ornament also worked with RNZB on Peter Pan, Carmen and The Nutcracker, which is currently touring nationally.
