Barfoot & Thompson renders a sporting vision of the Auckland skyline

Next month, some 25,000 international athletes will descend upon Auckland to compete in the 2017 World Masters Games and celebrating the event as presenting sponsor is Barfoot & Thompson in a campaign via Big Communications.

Hoping to reflect the “epic” proportion of the games, the agency’s creative director Joe Holden says the campaign has recreated the Auckland skyline out of equipment from each of the 28 sports featured in the games. He adds the 3D digital artwork and animation was created by Bunker.

With the campaign extending across digital, outdoor, print and owned media as well as during the days of competition, Barfoot & Thompson will be highly visible. This will no doubt be aided by the 1,700-plus staff from across 64 branches, who managing director Peter Thompson says can’t wait to be involved, either competing themselves or participating in activations.

Other brands supporting the games include New Zealand Story, SkyCity, Air New Zealand, New Zealand Community Trust and Airbnb.

Given the influx of people the city is expecting, Airbnb is using the event as an opportunity to recruit new hosts for its service.
