Ads of the Week: 7 August

Who’s it for: AA Insurance by DDB

Why we like it: Like all insurance ads worth their salt, the latest campaign from AA Insurance is aspirational – and what could be more aspirational, and sweeter, than a kid superhero? We love the use of music and imagination in this spot. Having delighted audiences with food, puppies and grandmas last year, the insurance company seems well aware a lecture is not the right way to go.

Who’s it for: Ford Ranger Raptor by GTB/J. Walter Thompson NZ

Why we like it: Who doesn’t love seeing a vehicle speed through the stunning South Island countryside? This spot has all the hallmarks of a good car ad with revving engines, the Ford practically flying over the terrain and swooping wide shots. And all with a professional female driver behind the wheel, showing off her skills. 

Who’s it for: AMP by Many Minds

Why we like it: AMP is back with it’s ‘Today, Tomorrow’ campaign and this time she’s hitting the gym, or eating a donut? The sweet treat/sweet deal angle is a little on the nose but this spot is simple and effective – and it’s in a scenario pretty much everyone can relate to: making yourself choose between working out and eating dessert.
