Ads of the Week: 31 July

Who’s it for: Sanitarium (Weet-Bix) by DDB and Sweetshop

Why we like it: Starting the day with a stack of Weet-Bix is nothing new for New Zealanders, especially for Kiwi kids. This campaign harks back to a simpler time that all of us can relate to: the long childhood days filled with laughter and friends. There’s nothing complicated about this ad, and it’s both a sweet and nostalgic watch.

Who’s it for: NZTA by Clemenger BBDO and 3&7

Why we like it: NZTA explores the stories that make up our lives in this latest drink-driving campaign. It ponders the dilemma Kiwi men face when their friends start to make poor decisions, especially when they’re drunk themselves. This ad has all the hallmarks of a memorable campaign including New Zealand ‘celebrities’ fan-favourite Jason Gunn and Levi Hawken, commonly known as the ‘Nek Minnit Guy’.

Who’s it for: My Food Bag by Saatchi & Saatchi and Assembly

Why we like it: Fresh food has never been so lovable than in the latest My Food Bag campaign. The sombre brussels sprout, Russell, tells us about the demise of the shared family dinner, before rejoicing in its return thanks to My Food Bag deliveries. It’s a feel-good campaign and makes us think about the power of a yummy meal.
