Air New Zealand pitches Cockpit Karaoke to James Corden

Air New Zealand has put a call out to actor and talkshow host James Corden to step into the cockpit and create a #CockpitKaraoke.

The Facebook video uses New Zealand’s views and the humour of the cabin crew to appeal to Corden, and encourages him to respond via Twitter, direct message, Snapchat or a message in a bottle. However, if he chooses the latter, audiences may be waiting a while for it to happen and they’ve already shown their enthusiasm for idea, giving the video 4,500 likes and 560 shares in its first three hours.

Corden has made headlines around the world with the Carpool Karaoke segment on his talk show The Late Late Show with James Corden. In it, singers join Corden for a sing-along while driving.

Famous names including Adele, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Elton John, Chris Martin have made appearances, with each video clocking up tens of millions of views.

Last month, First Lady Michelle Obama joined Corden for drive around the White House and wowed audiences with her rapping ability.

Should the airline’s pitch be successful, Air New Zealand wouldn’t be the first company to use Corden for commercial purposes. He made a cameo appearance in this ad for US insurance company Confused.com. While there was no singing, Corden showed off his impressive driving ability (or luck).

The USA Olympic Swimming Team also got in on the Carpool Karaoke action and created this video showing their journey to Rio. Michael Phelps knows his Miley Cyrus.
